THROWBACK MOVIE | EP. 6 : MISS STEVENS (2016)

Right on the first scene, this movie is already captured my attention. The opening scene, featured Rachel Stevens (Lily Rabe) sitting on the theatre room, crying and starring on the stage. When I watched it for the first time back in earlier 2017 - while I was binge watching indie movies, I thought this movie didn't get attention as it should be. It got me so hard on the first scene, kept asking myself what this movie was going to be about. 

Miss Stevens is about a 29 year old english teacher and three high school student who went to a two days trip for attending drama competition somewhere in California. The journey started with the road trip - which they got to know each other more than just teacher and students. Rachel tried so hard to keep the boundaries between her students while three of them were just as comfortable as they talked to their older friend. At first, I wasn't sure why Rachel kept such a boundary while there's nothing wrong with being close with students (I was a high school teacher once) but as the story went, I managed to understand the puzzle.

THROWBACK MOVIE | EP. 5 : STOKER (2013)

If you're not familiar with this movie, well I guess you're not alone. Stoker, directed by Park Chan Wook is somehow an underrated movie which is kinda sad because this is actually a really good movie! For years as being movie lover, I haven't heard many people talk about this movie. I came to conclusion, it's not a movie for everyone. 

This is a story about a fairly odd family. Centered in India Stoker (Mia Wasikowska) who just lost her father, Richard Stoker (Dermot Mulroney) on her eighteenth birthday in a weird car accident. On the day of his funeral, India met Charlie Stoker (Matthew Goode), her uncle who she never knew existed. The actual story began once Charlie lived with India and her mother, Evelyn (Nicole Kidman) which strange things occurred. 

THROWBACK MOVIE | EP. 4: CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC (2009)

Girls and shopping are such good best friends, right? I only knew a very little amount of girls who don't like shopping. I believe they do, but you know, they shop less than us, shopaholics. 

Based from the best selling novel written by Sophie Kinsella, Confessions of a Shopaholic gives us something simple, authentic, and of course, very relatable. Girls want something, girls need something, girls love to shop, girls love to buy themselves something new for every occasion, right? 

Confessions of a Shopaholic is such a very simple and predictable movie. It gives a great amount of humours, romance, family and friendship drama. This is the perfect romantic-comedy movie, like your summer fling, it doesn't have to be complicated to have a deep moral of story, right? 

THROWBACK MOVIE | EP. 3: BAREFOOT (2014)

Hello, everyone! 

Rewind to 2014, I watched so many romantic-comedy movies. No particular reason, just... had a very bad experience in relationship. So yeah. All I needed that time was laugh and cry. 

One of those then new released movies was Barefoot. First time I watched the trailer, I was like 'The idea is so fresh but at the same time reminds me Rapunzel story!' then I gave it a go and bam! I loved it! So much!

Barefoot is about finding love. Daisy (Evan Rachel Wood) has been locked inside her house with her psychotic mother ever since she was born. She didn't go to school, never interacted with anyone but her mother. On the other hand, Jay (Scott Speedman) came from a very wealthy family. He had MBA as degree but for some reasons, he's an asshole. He loves to party, one night stand, and all of his actions make him as a black sheep in his family. His father didn't really trust him, Jay became under shadowed by his younger brother's success. At one point, he has no goal at life. His life is going nowhere.

THROWBACK MOVIE | EP. 2: WHAT MAISIE KNEW (2012)

Hello, everyone!

In the second episode of throwback movie, I want to bring up again What Maisie Knew because for me, this movie didn't have enough attention in the premiere year so why not now? 

This movie is an excellent one, it is clearly underrated. What Maisie Knew is one of those movies which you can see from any point of view you want to see. It is completely a movie about reality of marriage, divorce, children and life - basically. This is about how man and woman tried to share custody, how their children became a victim of situation, how other people, completely strangers, became the real parents. 

THROWBACK MOVIE | EP. 1: LOVE, ROSIE (2014)

Hello, everyone! 

I was re-watching some of my favourite movies few days ago like Disney movies, cheesy romance movies and even The Twilight Saga. I like to re-watch because it kinda brings back some memories that I had in the past. 

Then, I just realised I never wrote review. How could I? Those clearly written on my favourite movie list! So, I decided to make this Throwback Movie series (finger crossed I constantly writing!) because why the hell not? ;) 

Without any further do, here's an episode 1 of Throwback Movie. Enjoy ;)

Romance - drama movie about love and friendship has always been my favourite type! I love how friendship becomes relationship, I love how girl - boy friendship always been complicated. I love those kind of movies, period.
