Romanticising My Life
Have you tried romanticising your love? For years, I've been scared to do it because I felt my life wasn't good enough to be romanticised. I was always so anxious that I'd jinxed the happiness. To be honest, I still am. But here's the thing.
It's right for me to appreciate all the happiness I have now. It's right for me to romanticise everything happening in my life now.
Why?Well, it's simple. Why not? :)
There's nothing wrong with imagining your life as a film - one character would meet others, the narrative your life would have in specific scenes, the music score, and even the colour palate. Seeing your life as a film is something you can do to appreciate all the details and not take your days for granted.
Romanticising your life can be a form of mindfulness. It will give you a fresh perspective on mundane moments. Here are some simple ways to romanticise your life - taken from an ordinary day-to-day routine!
- Create a mindful daily routine - you can start by giving yourself words of affirmation every morning. You can also express a little gratitude in your emails to your colleagues during work and see how it can bring a smile and a more meaningful day to your friends.
- Take a cute photo of your morning beverage - not necessarily to post it on social, of course, it's fine if you want to, but try to take an aesthetic photo of your morning beverage and see how you feel! You are welcome to plan it a day before ;)
- Create a curated life playlist - come on, it's your time to shine! Make yourself the main character with your favourite songs as the background music!
- Pick up your book - when is the last time you finish a book? Maybe it's time to get back to the routine.
- Buy flowers - I like the idea of having fresh flowers in my room. Flowers make everything more romantic and colourful. Unless you hate flowers or are allergic to them!
- Date yourself - book a table in your favourite restaurant, dress yourself up, and have fun!
- Find inspiration through art - go to the museum or even paint something, be creative and have some fun with paints and canvas. I wasn't a fan of painting before but once you tried and be more present at the moment, it's fun I promise!
- Switch up your place - change your bedsheets (regularly!), freshen up your mood board, change the arrangements, or even paint your room!
- Unplug - yes. I mean it. Take a day off from your social media or if you're up to a challenge, have a phone-free day! It can be challenging if you're already addicted, but yes, trust me, you can. Instead of checking what's happening on instagram when you wake up, why don't you make a pancake for your partner and yourself? Breakfast in bed is lovely!
- Write a letter for yourself - and save them to read next year! See how many changes you have within a year. Seriously, a year can do a lot to a person and their life!
Are you ready to romanticise your life?
