2024 SO FAR
So, how's my 2024 so far? Colourful. There are ups and downs, mostly unexpected. This year has been good. It's not always kind to me and everyone I love dearly, but that doesn't mean it won't be better for the last half year. 2024 so far is the year I become more patient towards myself, relearning my self-worth, and the year to be more upward and stand my ground. Also, a lot of catch-ups! It was so nice to meet some old friends and catch up on our lives. It's nice to know the friendship hasn't changed!
Let's break down month by month, shall we?
January - a few days before January, I married my handsome, silly, angry bird. So into the first month of 2024, I was getting myself used to being a wife, transitioning from Miss to Mrs. We celebrated our first NYE as husband and wife, Taufan's birthday, which was his second birthday we celebrated together, a staycation in a few places, one of them was Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort (a wedding gift from our beloved Auntie, Ochie Dara), back to work, and mid-January, Ochie Dara passed away which was so heartbreaking for us, especially for my husband as they had a close relationship. May she rest in peace and love in Heaven.
February - my birthday month! I caught up with one of my friends from Australia, Ciara, as she came to Bali for a holiday. It was a long overdue catch-up, 6 years since we saw each other back in Melbourne! My husband and I also celebrated Valentine's Day with a nice dinner at the cafe near our place, and then a few days later celebrated my birthday in one of the most exquisite yet unique restaurants in Ubud, Embers. Not much for this month, tbh, one I remember was a lot of eating haha
March - one thing I remember vividly from this month was we attended a painting class - a wedding gift from my two best friends, Noelie and Diane. We wouldn't booked it for ourselves tbh, so thankful we received this gift, one of the best and most memorable gifts ever! This year was also our first Ramadan as husband and wife!
April - we went home to surprise our family! We didn't tell anyone we were going home for Eid Al-Fitr until a week before, told my sister, Nana, to make sure the surprise went well (also we needed someone to pick us up lol, thanks love!). Our second Eid together, first as husband and wife, was so beautiful and meaningful. I will never forget how happy our parents were.
May - something unexpected came up this month, but I'm glad that I have my husband to help me get through that. Diane, came visit to Bali for a holiday so, of course, would not miss anything in the world to catch up! We spent a whole day together, it was so wonderful!
June - my husband started working out more regularly. Jess (and her family) came to visit Bali for a holiday, and of course, we had to catch up! The last time we saw each other was a few weeks before I went back to Indonesia from Australia. We met at the mall near her hotel, it was a special one as I got to meet and hang out with Olivia as well! Jess was always so supportive, kind, and helpful when I was in Australia. I'm thankful even though we lived in separated countries, our friendship hasn't changed at all. My husband and I also celebrated our engagement anniversary, we stayed in a cute little hut outside Ubud and had one of the best quality conversations.
July - this month is probably my most favourite month so far. It's school holidays!! Not only because I had a lot of time to do things I enjoy, but also had lots of time for my husband and me to do some quality time together. We went to Jakarta, he had some meetings there and I came along. I met up with Zain, and we spent almost a whole day together, lots of catch-ups.
I like to do this each year as I get to revisit some of my best memories of the year. It feels like crawling into the picture and getting to relive the day over. So, how's 2024 treating you so far?
